  • UHS Surreal Sound

Surreal Sound is the one and only co-ed, completely student-run a cappella group of Unity High School in Tolono. This 17 member group, directed by junior Joe Tempel and senior Brenlee Dalton, enjoys performing everything from classic Christmas tunes to modern pop hits. Throughout the year, they can be seen at Unity’s Fall Showcase, ciLiving, and other various places around the community. Surreal Sound sends a special thanks to Unity Music Boosters for inviting them to perform at their biggest event of the year, All Out A Cappella. In addition, they thank Unity music alum, Sydney Olson, for arranging two out of their four pieces. We hope you enjoy the show!

  • ISU Acafellaz

We are a tenor-bass competitive a Capella group at Illinois State University. We were founded in 1999 and it’s our 25th anniversary this year.

  • ISU Clef Hangers

Clef Hangers are the first mixed a cappella group at Illinois State University founded in August of 2008 by a small group of ambitious students who shared a passion for a cappella music. They have competed in ICCA for the last 7 years, and have won numerous awards such as outstanding soloist and outstanding arrangement. Outside of performing, the group is very close and loves to spend time together doing various non-music related activities.

No Comment is a 14-member, all-gender a cappella group hailing from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This group of best friends share a passion for not just music, but for creating with one another. NoCo has been wowing audiences for two decades with 7 ICCA Semifinals appearances and several studio albums, they have no intention of slowing down. With new projects and releases on the horizon, NoCo is sure to leave you wanting more!

  • No Strings Attached (Please notice Unity Alum Roger Holben in the back row!!)

Co-ed Jazz A Cappella at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

No Strings Attached is the premiere co-ed jazz a cappella group at the University of Illinois. Currently a 13-member undergraduate RSO, No Strings Attached was founded in 1994 by students from a campus theater group. They come from all across the country: from California to New Jersey and study everything from Psychology to Lyric Theatre. The group travels all around the midwest, performing and bringing music to their communities. Although they specialize in jazz, NSA is known for their wide variety of music, including medleys that blur the boundaries between genres.

No Strings placed 3rd at the 2022 ICCA Quarterfinals, where alum beatboxer Evan Fouts won Best Vocal Percussionist. They also released their first album, Syncopation, available on all platforms. Most recently, No Strings hosted and performed at Acatoberfest and appeared on CILiving. NSA now prepares to compete at ICCA in late February.

This tight-knit group loves making music and forming memories together. They are so excited to share with everyone here today some of their favorite songs. We hope you like what you hear!

  • Rip Chords

Established in 1992, The Illinois Rip Chords, from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, are the only competitive, all-treble a cappella group on their campus. This group of 15 amazing singers can be seen performing shows across the Midwest and around their own school with a wide variety of songs and styles, continuously expanding their range and vocal quality. Each year, the Illinois Rip Chords compete in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) which will take place on February 25th of this year. Apart from being a singing group, the members love to spend time with one another and are truly a family. You can find them on most social media platforms @illinoisripchords to keep up on their performances and latest updates. Additionally, make sure to be on the lookout for an EP soon to be dropped this year on Spotify and most music-streaming platforms along with the other riptastic music they have to offer! With their versatile sound, kicking choreo, and unyielding love for music and performing, this diverse group of singers are sure to entertain any audience. Please enjoy The Illinois Rip Chords!
